Karen Webb is an Australian photographer based in Albury, NSW.

Her Facebook was suddenly shutdown 2 weeks ago when it was caught up in the Facebook/Australian Government stoush over the Governments new Media Bargaining laws. You can find out what happened here.

Along with Karen’s business Facebook page, other important information pages were also caught up in the ban, including local health & emergency services pages, the national weather service page and charity pages that provide vital access to support.

As of 26th February 2021 Facebook has reinstated all news & other pages, including Karen’s, but it’s taught Australians, and particularly Australian small-businesses how dangerous it can be to rely on Facebook as our only source of information or communication.

It’s reinforced the need for making sure we have multiple ways to stay in contact and reach our clients, and we recommend Mail Chimp and Flodesk for email marketing, as well as Studio Ninja for customer/business management.
